A cantor serves the assembly by leading sacred songs, the responsorial psalm, and Mass parts.  Cantors must have a good singing voice and the willingness to sing in front of an assembly.

The choir serves by leading, supporting, enriching the assembly’s sung prayer.  The choir sings at the 11:15 am Sunday Mass, as well as Holy Week observances and liturgical celebrations.  The choir strives to reach beyond the parish by using sacred music to evangelize and to share their gifts with others.  Singers and instrumentalists interested in sharing their talents are encouraged to join.  Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm in the church.  Contact Barbra Nole at [email protected].

Church Cleaning Crew
Every week a different cleaning crew assumes the responsibility of cleaning the church on a weekly basis.  This ministry is an excellent way for families to volunteer together.  All ages are welcome to participate.  Contact Sally Nappila at St Anthony's office.

Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society was founded under the guidance of the Dominican Order, in 1274, to spread devotion to the Holy Names of God and of Jesus Christ.  One of the prime objects of the Society is to impart to Christian men courage in the profession of their faith.  Young men are encouraged to join after they have received Confirmation.  Membership is open to all men of the parish.

St Anthony's Bazaar Committee
The Bazaar is held on the first Friday and Saturday of August and is a major fundraiser for the parish and a major social event for the town of Shirley.  There is a lobster or clam dinner offered on Friday evenings, a BBQ chicken dinner on Saturday evening and a host of other yummy foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish chowder, and chili.  There are booths with games to play, a dunking booth, a White Elephant section, raffles, and many other fun things to do.

Christmas Craft Fair
This is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.   Do a little Christmas shopping in the White Elephant sale.  Know someone who’d love a new toy or game?  We’ve got some of those, too!  Enjoy the companionship of others while also tasting and purchasing refreshments of the season.

Dinner and Ham Raffle
This event is sponsored by the Holy Name Society, working with the youth of the parish, and is held on the Saturday before Palm Sunday every year.  A delicious dinner is served and then the wheel begins to spin.  You can win Easter hams, chocolate bunnies, Easter lilies, and many other Easter-related items.

Easter Egg Hunt
A St. Anthony’s tradition held at 10:45 am on Easter Sunday in Whitely Park.  It is hosted by St. Anthony’s Confirmation students.  Contact Donna Vaira at [email protected] or call 978-772-7474.

Now God gives us many kinds of special abilities, but it is the same Holy Spirit who is the source of them all.  There are different kinds of service to God, but it is the same Lord we are serving.  There are many ways in which God works in our lives, but it is the same God that does the work in and through all of us who are his.  The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

For the ongoing life of our parish we need your time, talent and treasure. In donating just a couple hours a month to the church, you are setting an example for the children of the parish and ultimately strengthening a church community.
